2. Check with an adult before you post something online.
3. Before you post something online, THINK, T- is it True, H- is it Helpful, I- is it Inspiring, N- is it Necessary, K- is it Kind.
4. Don't share personal information; address, e-mail, password.
5. Never open links or files from people you don't know or trust.

Lorde

Summer Learning Journey Day 4

I am now on to the third activity of day 4 at the Summer Learning Journey programme. For this activity, I have to state whether or not I agree with Donald Trumps plan to build a wall between U.S.A and Mexico.

Here is what I think:
I highly disagree with Trumps plan to build the wall. There are many reasons why one of them being that it uses up so many resources, it would take time and money. It is not right to block off Mexico from America. Families are being separated and family members are dying just trying to see their family. This is NOT a good idea.


What are your thoughts on the wall being built?

Summer Learning Journey Day 4

Hey guys! So today we are now up to day 4 on the Summer Learning Journey programme. I have chosen to do activity 1. We have to write 5 things we would change in our school if we were the principal for 1 week. Enjoy!

Things that I would like to change:

1. The nature walk would have to be cleaned and have colour and art and some monkey bars.
2. A massive pool.
3. Having a language class.
4. A sports academy, teaching many different sports.
5. Learning more subjects in class. 

Summer Learning Journey Day 3

I am now up to Day 3 on my Summer Learning Journey. The 3 activities are based on Environment and Exploration. The activity that I have chosen to do stated who I thought had a positive impact on my life.

My Nana Velda has a massive impact on my life and how I act. She has taught me how to use my manners and be respectful of others. She makes me realise the little things in life that are actually the best things. She has taught me life long skills that I will carry on with later in my life. She is very supportive of my sporting choices and encourages me when opportunities arise. My nana always smiles-which makes me smile too!

Passion Project - Cultures and Countries

Future Career Options

Hey guys! So this term we have been focusing on career options. We had to take a test on a site; career quest. We completed the test and it showed our results- which were jobs we were suited to us. We then had to use that job information while choosing 5 jobs, to make a slideshow. Here is mine, I hope you enjoy them! :)

Te Whare Tapa Wha

Over the past week or so for health, we have been focusing on Te Whare Tapa Wha. It talks about the different kinds of things you can do to be happy and healthy. We had to create a poster explaining what we thought Te Whare Tapa Wha was. Enjoy! :)

Maths/Measurement Challenge

As a follow up to the last post about measurement, we had a quick maths challenge ( 7 questions ). Hope you guys have fun reading it! :)

Measurement

This week for maths, instead of our usual bookwork, we had to complete a slide show about measurement. There were 11 questions ( two being examples ). It was great as I learnt something new!

Word Art

For our new set of reading slides; which is about one's culture and true self, we had to create a word cloud describing ourselves and the things we love. I like sports and learning new things.

New Zealand Myths

As an additional task to this weeks Reading assessment we had to create a poster, rap or song about discovery. I have never really been too interested in mythology but this activity intrigued me. Here is a poster about Papatuanuku and Ranginui.

For Writing, we had to complete a slide show about Maori Mythology. We had to answer a series of questions and present some work on a google draw.

Word Problems.

For maths, we have been doing a slide show with 35 different word problems. We had to highlight the answer and show our working out.

Fair Chocolate

For Reading, we had to complete a slide on the story Fair Chocolate. It involves us thinking about a good business plan and what it needs.

Information Writing.

In Room 3, for writing, we have been looking at informational writing. We had to choose to write about an object, person, place, or animal. I choose to do mine about the glamorous water bird, the Flamingo! I hope you enjoy reading it.

Kiwiana Mini Project

Lately, we have been studying Kiwiana. One of our activities was to create a poster about a Kiwiana item. I chose to do a Kiwifruit. I hope you enjoy reading it!

Metaphors

In room 3 for reading, we have been focusing on identifying the effect of language features in different poems. At the end of our task, we had to look into a  language feature. I chose metaphors.

Digital Dig Poster

Recently we have finished the Kaitaia Digital Dig. We had to visit sites to learn different shortcuts. At the end of this project, we had to create a poster sharing some tips. I chose to do Keyboard Shortcuts as they are my favourite.

Simple, compound and complex sentences story.

In room 3 as an attachment to our simple, compound and complex sentences, we had to choose out of a few topics on what we wanted to write about. We had to highlight the simple, compound and complex sentences in different colours.

Graphs

For maths, we have also been looking at graphs. Such as dot plots and diagrams. We have done a slide showing our working out.

Maths- Geometry

IN room 3 for maths we have been looking at geometry. Here is a slide with works on directions and maps.

Complex Sentences- Recount

In Room 3 we have been looking at Complex sentences and how to write them. We also learnt about dependent/independent sentences. We had to write a recount about our holidays or something like that.

World War 1 Timeline

In room 3 for Reading, we have been looking at World War 1 as it has recently been ANZAC day. Here is a timeline on what happened during the war.

We have been reading an ANZAC text. We have written our own summary of the text, and for early finishers; pinpoint on a map where they were fighting.

In class we have been learning about simple and compound sentences. We have also been looking at the subject and the verb in our sentences.

Google Docs Ninja

In class we have completed the Google Docs Ninja Challenge to learn more about how to use the features of Google Docs. After I am a Google Docs Ninja!

In our class we have been creating animations, and I chose to do mine about a lion called Alex.The hardest part was probably finding the right pictures.

In our class we have been doing a shared novel study on the book wonder written by R. J. Palacio. We had to create something to represent KINDNESS.
